Owl School

As a parent myself, I understand the importance of a good education as well as a healthy environment for our children to learn, grow and develop into the next generation of individuals that will take us to the next level in human evolution. It is also extremely important to be taught and surrounded with those having the same mindset that we are all different, we are all unique, we all have something to contribute and most importantly we are all in this together.

To have our children learn the highest quality of education we can provide, while showing the importance of self-reliance and self-respect towards everyone is extremely important and it is also up to us and not just the school system to make sure our children are learning these fundamentals. I have compiled a list of the top Public Elementary schools in Mississauga as rated by the Fraser Institiute as of 2015 and I will continue to stay on top of the ranks as the years pass so that you know what schools, in what districts are pulling their weight in the classroom. So without further delay, let's get to it......

1480 Chriseden Dr, Mississauga ON L5H 1V4   P: 905.278.5594  F: 905.278 8925

Well Tecumseh's score on the Fraser Institute speaks for itself, clearly showing that the school's vision is working for this Lorne Park District school. Their pursuit of having academic excellence in a safe, challenging and equal environment as well as having their students not only develop individually but to also learn how to work together and support each other physically and scholastically.

6325 Miller's Grove, Mississauga, ON L5N 3K2  P:  905.824.3275  F:  905.824.9974

I think there must be something in the water here as Lisgar is a district in Mississauga that has some of the largest number of schools placing extremely well on the Fraser Institute and Miller's Grove is just one example of this. Their mission at the school is "we care, we share, we learn" and this must really ring true as some of the core values they focus on here are teamwork, respect and commitment and you can see that through their rating numbers.

6855 Tenth Line West, Mississauga, ON  L5N 5R2  -  P:  905.824.0155  F:  905.824.9989

Being another well rated school in the quieter Lisgar district must have its perks. Plum Tree's great rating on the Fraser Institute goes to show their mission "Learning for Life; Respectez tout" must be working for them. Focusing on adding inspiration to hungry minds and helping each child reach their true potential. Looks to be your child not only the required curriculum but learn to also strive for success, be a team player and have a mutual respect for others.

Each students full development is what is important here at Streetsville Secondary School and their development and participation in a community that provides inclusion, mutual respect and excellence. They hold high expectations for all their students and they try to suit the individual needs and learning style of each student. Which seems like a tall order but their rating on the Fraser Institute speaks for itself.

1150 Dreamcrest Road, Mississauga, ON  L5 V 1N7  P:  905.567.4260  F:  905.567.5017

Getting a quality education and not being afraid to try new things are only two of the things being taught here at Rick Hansen Secondary. Here the students learn the importance of the respect of others and to take responsibility for their actions as well as learning new information technologies that shape their learning environment which must have had some effect with their good ratings on the Fraser Institute in 2015.

Lorne Park Secondary School holds high expectations for all of its students, while wanting to develop a partnership between the school, their student and their families. Academics are a key focus here as well as learning to treat all with respect and building the necessary skills along the way that will help transfer these skillsets into life. They also had a fantastic score on the Fraser Institute as well for 2015.

Finishing in the top 10 for secondary schools in Mississauga on the Frasier Institute in 2015 is quite the feat. Their vision and mission at The Woodlands Secondary School is a strong commitment to education, the development of creative and critical thinking skills and the appreciation of a diverse and comprehensive community atmosphere. If you ask me it seems to be working.....

70 Mineola Road East, Mississauga, ON L5G 2E5  P:  905.278.3382  F:  905.278.8936

The students can here attest that you do get better with age as Port Credit Secondary celebrates their 95th anniversary this year, they can fit their rankings on the Fraser Institute in 2015 as another reason to celebrate. This progressive learning community is home to two Peel region programs "The SciTech program and The Strings program" as well as being a school that promotes good citizenship, respect and creativity. Their focus is to cultivate good students = good people!

3575 Fieldgate Drive, Mississauga, ON  L4X 2J6  P:  905.625.7731  F:  905.625.3468

Glenforest Secondary Schools mission says it best "Participate, Respect, Achieve - offer the best, expect the best, to be your best" With their fantastic ratings on the Fraser Institute for 2015, it just goes to show how they value a higher standard in their students work and behaviour all the while being in a safe and healthy learning environment.

2665 Erin Centre Boulevard, Mississauga, ON  L5M 5H6  P:  905.858.5910  F:  905.858.1973

Good things must come in twos as John Fraser happened to record the same rating on the Fraser Institute's 2015 ratings as their neighbouring catholic school St. Aloysius Gonzaga. This secondary school values compassion and respect for others as well as focusing on personal growth all while achieving excellence. Being able to work on your own and with others is another good core value that is also focused on in the school.

1305 Cawthra Road, Mississauga, ON  L5G 4L1  P:  905.274.1271  F:  905.274.9370

Cawthra Park's vision at the school is to prepare their students for a promising future in both life and work. Enforcing the importance of having strong academic marks, working well with and having respect for others and taking responsibility for your actions. Whatever they are doing here it is clearly working here as you can see by their Fraser Institute rankings.
